Triangular Kinship Terms

Welcome. This is a resource to help you learn about kinship terminology in the Bininj Kunwok languages of Western Arnhem Land in Australia’s Northern Territory (Kunwinjku, Kundjeyhmi and other dialects). There are two sets of kinship terms dealt with on this site which are called here “basic terms” and “triangular terms”. The triangular terms are called kundebi in Kunwinjku and kundembuy in Kundjeyhmi. You need to know the basic terms in order to interact with the triangular terms search engine.
